A positive weight loss mindset is a great asset that will significantly improve your chances of long term weight loss success. But like most things, it’s not just something you’re born with or wake up with every day. Like any muscle, if you want to develop it, you need to work on it regularly.
Here’s 5 effective tricks you can use to get that ‘brain training’ off to a kick-arse start.
If the election hasn’t distracted you too much, you may have noticed it’s just over a week until Christmas! That’s like seven more sleeps until the big man comes down your chimney and eats your mince pies, and probably Rudolph’s carrot. Yeah, I’m on to you Santa…
So that means that we need to be prepared. Not for Santa eating your mince pies… just to be clear!
Hitting the town for some noms or ordering a takeaway can be a bit of a nightmare when you’re trying to stay in shape! Often it can be very difficult to find healthy foods at restaurants. That’s why we have cheat nights, right? (Well, one of the reasons!)
It’s important to remember, eating whatever the hell you want every now and then won’t hurt your progress. As you probably know, I’m very much against dieting and recommend a balanced approach to eating to stay healthy, which of course sometimes includes taking an ‘eat, drink, and be merry’ approach to your nights out!
So here’s my favourite tips and tricks to stick to your eating plan but still enjoy going out with friends to dinner… Even when it’s not your cheat night!

First up in our ‘no particular order’ top 5 is…
Representing Team Mercury, Christine totally smashed this dropping over half a stone of fat, a whopping 3% body fat, 1 and a half inches from his waist and an inch off her hips in just 6 weeks!!Let’s be honest, Christine needs no introduction. She’s a beautiful example of positivity, motivation, and support. If I could clone her and make enough tiny Christines to carry around in our pockets, the world would be a much better place.So after seeing this transformation, she’s the perfect person to start this countdown!
Christine said: “I kept coming to the studio to workout. I kept connecting with my fellow challengers and the elite trainers. I kept looking at my photo from last year wearing the trousers that I want to fit!My biggest obstacle was the crabs around me but I spent time with the pw family to spur me on.I now feel much more alive mentally. Less fog brain! I have set myself another 6 weeks to stay focused and lose more fat to reduce the red part of the pie chart. I have an orange dress that needs me to be lean and strong in order to look my best in the dress.”

Sixteen months ago I decided that the time had come to make a change in my life. I felt stiff, overweight and old. I had noticed PW appearing on Facebook for a few months but I always thought it wasn’t the right time, but this time I took the plunge and signed up for their New Year Revolution challenge.
I have always hated gyms but PW is different, it’s just special, everyone is so welcoming, Anthony is amazing and the font of all knowledge for everything you need to know as well as being so motivational and encouraging. Jamie, who was one of the elite trainers, is my inspiration having been through the journey himself, but all trainers are superb and are with you every step of the way.
Like most people I’d spent Christmas over indulging with the mindset that I’d lose it all in January. Trouble is I’d said that for, perhaps, the last 6 Christmases and never lost it in January so year upon year I’d added to my weight.
I’d start a diet lose a few pounds, feel amazing then congratulate myself by “treating” myself to cakes, wine and any other thing I could convince myself I’d earned, thereby undoing all my good work. By the time I’d repeated this cycle twice a year I’d be thoroughly fed up, give up entirely, and hooray it’s Christmas again… I’ll worry about it in January.
This January it was a bit different.
Whilst browsing Facebook to kill the time, because, let’s face it, what else is there to do in January… I’d see my friend Tania pop up checking in at PW Physique and Fitness. My initial reaction was… she’s mad who works out at 5:45am and seems happy about it!! Surely that won’t last!
But day after day I saw these check-ins and I became curious and started asking questions, and all I got was glowing reports of this amazing place with the most amazing trainers and the people that went there.
Six short weeks later she posted her success story and that’s when I realised that this was something I had to try so I got in touch with Anthony and booked my taster session.
So another epic PW challenge has come to a close! Here’s our top 7 transformations…
Why 7? Well, it was supposed to be top 5, but there were just so many great ones, we couldn’t stop ourselves!
First up in our no-particular-order top 4 is…
Karen from Team Max killed this challenge dropping 7lbs of fat in just 6 weeks!!
Karen’s been part of the PW family for over a year now, dropping nearly 2 stone and 4 inches off her waist, and she knows as well as anyone, that the closer you get to your goal, the harder you have to work for it.
Once the honeymoon’s over, you need to double-down, and that’s exactly what she did for this challenge.
She just went completely tunnel-vision and, like I said, totally killed it!
She said: “I am quite amazed how different I feel! I have so much more energy!”
“I really listened to my body and as well as our the oracle (Anthony) I felt so much better when focused, it just spurred me on to keep focused.”
“I think the most difficult Was when I was away for weekends training (studying) watching everyone have cake and sandwiches and chocolate, gin and tonics, meal out in Saturday night. That was so hard! I would normally have a weekend of stuffing my face making excuses saying oh it’s so stressful and I need all ‘This’ to keep me going.RUBBISH! It was an excuse!I just prepped up the day before. Packed up my little lunch bag with healthy stuff and actually felt better for it! My water bottle was my best friend in class”

When I got married my waist was 22 inches, and I had never worried about what I ate or whether I exercised. Over the next eight years I had four children and was one of those annoying people who went back into jeans very quickly still not having to worry about weight!
As my children got older my husband and I started all-inclusive holidays while the grandparents had the kids and the older they got the longer the holidays got! Once they had grown up and left home the holidays became more regular and that’s when the weight started to creep on. We were all inclusive after all if would be rude not to try and eat and drink everything in sight, right??
Over the next few years I had tried lots of different forms of exercise and was even still involved in amateur dramatics, dancing and singing, but still the weight crept on! I then had painful knees which slowed me down resulting in a replacement knee two years ago. After that I was scared to exercise in case it hurt and also the weight increase was obviously down to my age, going through the menopause and nothing would work right???? Wrong!!!
