I just got this email from Justine, one of my clients, which I had to share. In my job I see people who have days like this every day of the week – Get in shape, especially after having not given yourself the care you deserve for a while, and practically every day is a great one – But I never, ever tire of revelling in other people’s triumphs.
So you should have the chance too, so I’m going to hand you over to awesome Justine.
WARNING: This may cause uncontrollable smiling in people with hearts…
Justine: “I was so chuffed at the response I got at a meeting last week, I couldn’t wait for my training session this week to tell you!
I hadn’t seen some of the people who were going to be there for a while and because I had lost a stone, I was feeling really good and wanted to show it off. In fact I was feeling so good that the night before I had a little fashion show with my friends to decide what to wear. I strut my stuff in my living room and we chose some fabulous heels, white boot cut jeans and an amazingly bright top.
The minute I walked into the room, the compliments started I couldn’t believe it!
First I ran into my colleague Steve, and he looked amazed!!! Eyes wide, he blurted out, “Wow! You look bloody amazing!” and gave me a big hug!
That was a massive boost, and I would have been happy for the rest of the day on that alone, but it didn’t stop there. I ran into Bob, one of the company CEOs next, he looked me up and down and said, “Wow, you look great. Have you lost weight?
“Yes, I’ve lost a stone… That’s 14 pounds to you!”
Bob’s American. Luckily he has a sense of humour!
“I know what a stone is! Well you look great!”
The other person who really shocked me was Peter from a separate company we do business with. He had been training us throughout the day on and off. It was mid afternoon and I was sitting in on a class.
He sneaked in at the back of the room and crept over to me. I thought he needed something but he leant over and said, “Just wanted to tell you that you look beautiful today.” How cool is that!!! Bless him.
The compliments continued ALL DAY from 9am until 8pm that evening! I couldn’t believe it! You can see why I had to write to you!
It was unbelievable I was on such a high, I’d “only” lost a stone and still had much more to lose. I have to be honest and say I didn’t believe you when you said what an impact a stone makes. I see myself every day, so don’t see it like other people do!
There were several people who just walked up and said, “You look great”. One of my team members Frank came up to me the next day and said “I didn’t get to tell you how fabulous you looked yesterday!” That was so lovely. Also Des said, “Damn, Girl! Look at you! MMMMM! You look GOOD!” In a way only Des can!
I know I still have a way to go, but I finally feel I have cracked it.
If you want to lose weight, it’s all about what you put in your mouth, not the exercise. The exercise will tone you up so you have killer abs and guns when all the weights come off, but it’s getting your eating plan right that shifts the pounds.
Once you’d got this into my thick skull and the penny had well and truly dropped… that’s when I started to move forward quickly and easily. I still eat loads of the food I love, have I cut things out? Of course! But I don’t feel deprived in anyway and I’m NEVER hungry. In fact sometimes I can’t eat everything that’s in my plan.
I never say diet anymore as now I’ve learned how to eat differently, not how to live on soup and shakes! I’ve got my water up to about 3-4 litres a day which seemed impossible when you pitched the idea to me, but is easy now and makes a massive difference (the colder the better). After being so busy over the last two weeks and getting ill on top of that, I hadn’t worked out, missing 6 sessions and I was convinced I’d gain weight. But I followed your advice not to worry about it, just stick to the eating plan. So I did and kept drinking water.
When I stepped up onto the scales in my weigh in, I was a little bit apprehensive, but ecstatic at the result! I had stayed on track and lost 4lbs despite not being able to work out. It proves the theory! Get on a proven eating plan and stop putting rubbish in your mouth!!!
I’m losing about 7lbs a month consistently and while I workout with you as well, I can feel myself toning up under my ‘fat suit’! We have our annual convention in February and by then I will be 3 stone lighter, I can’t wait. I have already got my dress ready and I look at it every day to keep me on track to fit in it by then. The best thing about it is when I reach my target weight I know I will never put it back on as I know how to eat now!”
